9Chenonceau Castle, France

Chenonceau Castle near the small village of Chenonceaux, France spans the River Cher and was built sometime around the 11th century.

The castle made it through both World Wars, acting as a hospital ward in the first and survived a bombing by the Germans in June 1940.
