4Nantucket, Massachusetts

For a coastal Christmas with classic New England charm, Nantucket is the place to be. This small island off the coast of Massachusetts transforms into a picturesque holiday destination during the annual Nantucket Christmas Stroll. The island is known for its beautiful homes, and during the holiday season, they are adorned with wreaths, garlands, and twinkling lights. The Stroll, which typically takes place in early December, kicks off the holiday season with festivities including caroling, holiday shopping, and a visit from Santa arriving by boat.

In addition to its cozy inns and quaint streets, Nantucket’s Festival of Trees at the Whaling Museum showcases dozens of decorated Christmas trees, each created by local artists and businesses. Visitors can also enjoy hot chocolate by the fire at one of the island’s many inns or take a walk on the beach to enjoy the peaceful winter scenery.
