1Masaccio (1401-1428)

Tommaso di Ser Giovanni di Simone, known today as Masaccio, was the first master painter of the Quattrocento period.

He is called Masaccio as a nickname after the shortened Maso from Tommaso, meaning ‘clumsy tom.’
