Between L’Escala and Sant Martà d’Empúries lies Platja del Portitxol, a picturesque beach surrounded by pine trees and rocky formations.
The water here is relatively calm and shallow, while the surrounding rocks provide a natural frame for the beach. Its position along the Costa Brava makes it easy to combine with nearby archaeological and historic attractions.
It may not be completely unknown, but compared with some of the Costa Brava’s headline destinations, Portitxol retains a more intimate character.
