1Playa de Bolonia, Cádiz

Near Tarifa, Playa de Bolonia is a spectacular Atlantic beach backed by enormous dunes and rugged hills. Its remote setting has helped preserve much of its natural character.

The beach stretches for roughly 3.8 kilometres, so there is plenty of room to escape the busiest areas. Its surroundings also include the ancient Roman site of Baelo Claudia, adding a remarkable historical dimension to a beach day. Strong winds are common around this part of the Cádiz coast, but they are also part of what gives the landscape its wild, open character.
