5Day 5: Hidden Rome
Your final day in Rome is dedicated to discovering its lesser-known corners.
Begin in the charming neighborhood of Trastevere, a district filled with narrow cobbled streets, ivy-covered buildings, and lively cafés. It offers a glimpse of Rome’s more authentic side, away from the crowds of the historic center.
Next, visit the peaceful Giardino degli Aranci, also known as the Orange Garden. From this quiet park on the Aventine Hill, you can admire a beautiful panoramic view of the city.
Just a short walk away lies one of Rome’s most intriguing curiosities: the Knights of Malta Keyhole. Looking through this tiny keyhole reveals a perfectly framed view of the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica.
Finally, explore the fascinating layers of history at Basilica of San Clemente. Beneath the medieval church lies a complex of underground structures, including a fourth-century basilica and even older Roman buildings.
