Situated in the city of Recife, Praia de Boa Viagem is a popular beach in Brazil that has experienced a concerning rise in shark attacks over the past few decades.

Since the 1990s, more than 60 shark attacks have been reported, many of them fatal.

The construction of a nearby port disrupted the sharks’ natural migration patterns, bringing them closer to shore. Despite the danger, tourists still flock to this beautiful beach, although local authorities warn against swimming far from the shore.
