Nicknamed “Plastic Beach,” Kamilo Beach on Hawaii’s Big Island is infamous for the vast amounts of plastic waste that wash ashore.

Ocean currents from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch funnel debris to this otherwise stunning location. Despite clean-up efforts, microplastics and other trash continue to accumulate, harming marine life and the environment.
