Kastoria is a Greek city belonging to the periphery of Western Macedonia.
The city is an important religious center for the Greek Orthodox Church and is the seat of a metropolitan bishopric. It originally had seventy-two Byzantine and medieval churches, of which fifty-four are preserved today.
