Almost every part of the Sagrada Família has a meaning.
The façades tell different parts of the Christian story, while the towers represent important biblical figures. The central tower is dedicated to Jesus Christ, surrounded by towers dedicated to the four Evangelists and the Virgin Mary.
The sculptures, shapes, numbers and architectural details were carefully incorporated into Gaudí’s overall religious vision.
That means visitors can walk around the basilica several times and continue noticing details they missed before. The official Sagrada Família publications devote separate sections to the symbolism of the façades, towers, interior and chapels.
