The road is so dangerous that portions of it close during the winter. It simply isn’t passable at times between treacherous weather and blizzards. Even if you drive carefully, heavy snowfall, avalanches, or landslides may kill you. Despite being so dangerous, this road is in regular use. Locals use it daily on nearly every mode of transportation.
