Inside the spectacular Cabo de Gata-NÃjar Natural Park, Playa de los Genoveses combines golden sand, dunes, volcanic-looking hills and clear Mediterranean water.
The beach stretches for more than a kilometre, making it much larger than many hidden coves. Despite its secluded setting, it is relatively accessible from San José, around two kilometres away. Spain’s official tourism site describes it as an isolated beach surrounded by vegetation, dunes and rocky landscapes.
Its undeveloped surroundings make it feel dramatically different from the resort beaches farther along Spain’s coast.
