6Hike in the Parco Nazionale del Gargano

The Promotorio del Gargano bulges out into the Adriatic Sea northwest of Bari, encompassing a craggy coast and forested hills, 120,000 hectares of which is protected as the Gargano National Park.

It’s a great area for hiking, especially around the Forestra Umbra (Forest of Shadows), whose shady beech, oak, yew and Aleppo pines provide a refuge for local wildlife.
