10ElliΓ°aey Island House (Iceland)

Perhaps the most famous isolated house in the world, the ElliΓ°aey Island House sits alone on a rugged, grassy island in Iceland’s Westman Archipelago.

The island itself is uninhabited, save for this mysterious white structure. Built as a hunting lodge by the ElliΓ°aey Hunting Association, it is used by members during puffin hunting season. Accessible only by boat and ladder, the house has no electricity or running water, enhancing its remote charm.

Why it’s lonely: Surrounded by the North Atlantic Ocean, with no permanent residents or neighbors for miles.
