10Your Destination Is Experiencing Serious Political Unrest
Political demonstrations are relatively common in several European capitals, and most take place without serious incidents. However, when protests become violent, spread across multiple neighbourhoods or result in clashes with police, travelling to the affected destination may require reconsideration.
Large demonstrations can lead to road closures, disrupted public transportation, cancelled events and restricted access to popular tourist attractions. In more serious situations, airports and railway stations can also be affected.
Before departing, check whether demonstrations are planned during your stay and whether your accommodation is located close to government buildings, major squares or other potential protest locations. If unrest is escalating, postponing your visit may be the more sensible decision.
