1Day 1: Ancient Rome
Start your Roman adventure by stepping directly into the ancient world. Day one is dedicated to exploring the heart of the Ancient Rome, where emperors once ruled and gladiators fought before roaring crowds.
Begin at the legendary Colosseum, the largest amphitheater ever built in the Roman Empire. Constructed in the first century under the Flavian emperors, it could hold more than 50,000 spectators who gathered to watch gladiator battles, dramatic performances, and public spectacles. Walking through the arches of this monumental structure offers a powerful sense of Rome’s imperial past.
Just a short walk away lies the Roman Forum, once the political, religious, and commercial center of the empire. Today, its scattered columns and temples tell the story of a city that shaped Western civilization. Highlights include the Temple of Saturn, the Arch of Septimius Severus, and the remains of the Senate House.
From there, climb the nearby Palatine Hill, one of the famous seven hills of Rome. According to legend, this is where Romulus founded the city in 753 BC. The hill later became the luxurious residential district of Roman emperors. From the top, you can enjoy sweeping views over the Forum and the Colosseum.
End your day with a relaxing stroll toward Capitoline Hill, where you can admire a spectacular sunset over the ancient ruins.
