5The Tower of Silence, India

In Mumbai, India, lies a peculiar and solemn building known as the Tower of Silence (or Dakhma), used by the Zoroastrian community.

Due to their religious beliefs, the dead are not buried or cremated but instead placed atop the tower to be consumed by vultures, returning the body to nature. Though the practice itself is understood, the secluded nature and spiritual aura of the place contribute to its enigmatic reputation.
