Lisbon, once a quiet and relatively undiscovered gem in southern Europe, has experienced a massive tourism boom in recent years.

While the influx of visitors has revitalized the city’s economy, it has also caused overcrowding in popular areas like Alfama and Bairro Alto. Rising rents, driven in part by short-term rentals catering to tourists, have pushed many locals out of their neighborhoods.
In response, Lisbon has implemented strict regulations on short-term rentals and is encouraging tourists to explore other parts of the city and nearby regions to alleviate the pressure on the city center.
