5Metropol Parasol – The Modern Icon

Amid Seville’s historic streets rises a bold piece of contemporary architecture: the Metropol Parasol, known locally as “Las Setas” (The Mushrooms) because of its massive wooden canopy design. Completed in 2011, it’s one of the largest wooden structures in the world.

Located in La Encarnación Square, this avant-garde structure contrasts beautifully with Seville’s traditional buildings. Visitors can take the elevator to the walkway at the top, which offers panoramic views of the city—especially magical at sunset.
Beneath the structure, you’ll find an archaeological museum, a market, and cafés where you can enjoy a coffee with a modern view of this ancient city. The Metropol Parasol symbolizes Seville’s ability to embrace innovation while honoring its past.
