3Dagmar Spent Her Savings Helping Tyrion Walk Again
Tyrion, a Maltipoo belonging to Dagmar Gudmundsson, had been a healthy dog for most of his life. Then, in March 2024, everything changed within hours.
After playing fetch and taking a nap, Tyrion began walking strangely. His condition deteriorated rapidly, and he eventually lost all movement in his back legs. Further examination revealed granulomatous meningoencephalitis, or GME, a rare autoimmune disease that caused inflammation affecting his nervous system.
Dagmar refused to simply accept that Tyrion’s active life was over. She pursued different forms of rehabilitation, including acupuncture and hydrotherapy, while also searching for ways to help him become mobile again.
Eventually, Tyrion received a custom wheelchair. The transformation was dramatic: he quickly learned how to use his wheels and was able to move around with much greater freedom.
Dagmar has since shared their journey online and created a business called Wag & Wheel aimed at supporting disabled dogs and contributing to animal rescues. Tyrion has even continued enjoying activities such as camping and paddleboarding.
