2Krak des Chevaliers – Syria (built 1031 AD)

This Crusader castle is one of the best-preserved medieval fortresses in the world. Perched on a hill in western Syria, Krak des Chevaliers was originally built by the Emir of Aleppo and later expanded by the Knights Hospitaller.

Its concentric walls, moats, and towers are textbook examples of Crusader military design. Despite its age, much of the structure remains intact, offering visitors a powerful journey into the past.
