4Marble Caves, Chile
On the shores of General Carrera Lake in Patagonia, the Marble Caves offer one of the world’s most unusual cave landscapes. Unlike traditional caves hidden underground, these formations rise directly from the turquoise waters of the lake.
Over thousands of years, waves have carved intricate tunnels, arches and smooth walls into the marble. The changing color of the water reflects onto the rock, creating extraordinary shades of blue and turquoise.
The caves are best viewed by boat, with calm weather providing the ideal conditions. Because the landscape is constantly influenced by water and light, its appearance can change throughout the day.
