3The “Little House” in the Thousand Islands (USA/Canada)

Sitting on a tiny island on the Saint Lawrence River, right between the U.S. and Canadian border, this house barely fits on its patch of land.

Known as “Just Room Enough Island,” it was built by a family seeking a summer getaway. The house and its island are so small that there’s just enough space for the structure and a single tree.
Why it’s lonely: Surrounded by water on all sides, the house is isolated even though it sits in a relatively populated region.
