9The Roman God of Fire lived on Mount Etna

There’s a myth about Mt. Etna that asserts that Vulcan, the god of fire lived on Mt. Etna. Vulcan had the base of Mt. Etna as his metal works workshop.

Vulcan manufactured art, arms, iron and armor as well as other items. Legend has it that Vulcan married Venus, the goddess of love and beauty after being promised a wife by Jupiter. With every incidence of unfaithfulness from the part of Venus, Vulcan would beat red- hot metal, hence Mount Etna’s eruptions.
