1Mount Etna is a World Heritage Site

Mount Etna was declared a World Heritage Site in 2013 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) – it is set aside and protected, therefore it shall be available to generations to come.

The mountain has also been declared a Decade Volcano by the United Nations- the international association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth’s Interior finds Mount Etna worthy of study.
