A mountainous mainland peninsula once known as the Greek gods’ summer retreat, Pilio (or Pelion) is a four-hour drive from Athens.

Also known as the mountain of the centaurs, it’s a year-round destination offering mountain activities as well as coastal attractions, and was used as a location in the first Mamma Mia! film
