The cave of St George is also known as the therapeutic cave since the water has medicinal properties and can treat scores of medical conditions, including allergies and skin ailments.

The Cave of St. George is one of the primary tourist attractions of the city of Kilkis. Quarryman George Pavlidis made an accidental discovery in 1925.
