6Step 1: Prepare the Dough

Start by gathering the ingredients for your gingerbread dough. You’ll need flour, baking soda, ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, unsalted butter, brown sugar, molasses, and an egg. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy. 

Add the molasses and egg, mixing until fully incorporated. In a separate bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients, then gradually add them to the wet mixture to form a soft dough. Divide the dough into two portions, wrap them in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least an hour to make it easier to handle.
