3Hidden Views: Rooftops and Towers

Most visitors admire Florence from the dome of the Duomo or the top of Giotto’s Campanile, but there are lesser-known vantage points. The Torre della Zecca and the Torre San Niccolò are medieval towers that occasionally open in summer, offering spectacular views without the crowds.
Alternatively, many hotels and bars in Florence boast rooftop terraces. Sip an aperitivo at La Terrazza on top of Hotel Continentale or at SE·STO on Arno for golden-hour views over the city. Watching the rooftops glow at sunset, with the Duomo’s dome illuminated against the sky, is one of Florence’s most magical experiences.
