2Walk the alleys of Martina Franca

Murgia is a hilly region of valleys and karst outcrops. Martina Franca is the area’s most attractive town, ringed by watchtowers and walls, and largely dates from the early Middle Ages.

Its most striking buildings are the 17th century Palazzo Ducale and 18th century Basilica di San Martino, dedicated to the town’s patron saint. The town has a handful of good restaurants and cafés; sit down for a coffee on Piazza XX or Piazza Roma and watch the world go by.
