Commissioned by Empress of Austria Elisabeth of Bavaria, also known as Sisi, the Achilleion Palace is a grand neoclassical mansion located on the island.

The palace is adorned with statues and artwork depicting scenes from Greek mythology, particularly the hero Achilles. The palace’s gardens offer panoramic views of the Ionian Sea and the surrounding landscapes.
