Cologne is already a beautiful city – gargantuan twin-spired cathedral, next to the mighty Rhine River, and full of Gothic architecture in a picturesque old town.

But the Christmas market takes it over the top. Which is why Cologne is at the top of my list for best Christmas markets in Germany.
