5Florence Cathedral – The Jewel of the Renaissance
The Florence Cathedral, also known as the Duomo, is one of the masterpieces of Renaissance architecture.
Its enormous red-tiled dome, engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi in the 15th century, transformed architectural history and became a symbol of human creativity during the Renaissance.
The cathedral’s white, green, and pink marble façade makes it one of the most visually stunning churches in Italy. Climbing to the top of the dome rewards visitors with panoramic views over Florence’s terracotta rooftops and surrounding Tuscan hills.
