The historic center is a masterpiece of ornate facades, elaborate sculptures, and intricately decorated churches. The Basilica di Santa Croce and the Piazza del Duomo are architectural marvels that should not be missed. Lecce is also famous for its distinctive local stone, known as “Lecce stone,” which is used extensively in the town’s buildings.
