Syros is the administrative capital of the Cycladic group of islands, with Ermoupolis the main town and the island’s capital.

Unlike the rest of the Cyclades, Ermoupolis has elegant neo-classical buildings, but move away from here and there’s no doubt that you are in the Cyclades with the whitewashed houses of Ano Syros with their blue shutters, accessed via narrow streets.
