7Zipolite Beach, Mexico

Despite its nickname, “Playa de los Muertos” (Beach of the Dead), Zipolite Beach in Oaxaca, Mexico, attracts thousands of visitors.

While its laid-back atmosphere and beautiful coastline are inviting, the beach has a dark side: powerful rip currents that have claimed the lives of numerous swimmers.

Although lifeguards are now present, the waters remain dangerous for those unaware of the treacherous undertow. Swimming here requires extra caution, even for strong swimmers.
