7Ravenna cathedral

The Basilica of San Vitale is a late antique church in Ravenna, Italy. The sixth-century church is an important surviving example of early Christian Byzantine art and architecture. It is one of eight structures in Ravenna inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The interior, above the precious marbles, is a further source of wonder – you can see a splendid example of mural mosaic that develops vertically, conferring to the basilica an imperial aura and representing the political and religious power of the time.
