Leonardo was born out of wedlock and didn’t live with his mother, instead leaving her house wen he was a kid to live with his father, who was a wealthy notary and landowner.

The relationship with his mother was poor, but he would go often to see his father’s family and his uncle in Vinci, and mourned his father deeply after his death.
