Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, is home to some of the world’s most famous art and architecture.
However, the city’s small historic center is inundated with tourists, particularly during the peak summer months. The narrow streets and piazzas are often overcrowded, and locals have complained about the strain on infrastructure and the disruption to everyday life.
Many of Florence’s residents have moved out of the city center, driven away by rising costs and the transformation of housing into vacation rentals. Florence is now trying to encourage more sustainable tourism by promoting off-season travel and limiting the number of visitors to certain attractions.
In polar and other cold regions there are ice, snow and water formations that are unusual, unique, and some of them so beautiful they take your breath away. Most of these wonders of nature can be visited only by scientists and rare adventurers who are ready for significant physical and financial exertions. Because of their volatility and locations, these formations can be seen only at certain periods of the year.
