1Gaztelugatxe, Basque Country

Perched on a rocky islet off the Basque coast, Gaztelugatxe is one of Spain’s most dramatic hidden treasures. A winding stone bridge with 241 steps connects the mainland to a hermitage dedicated to St. John, perched at the top.

The views over the Bay of Biscay are breathtaking, and it’s no wonder this spot was chosen as Dragonstone in Game of Thrones. While it has gained some fame among fans of the show, it still feels like a mystical, almost secret place.
