Often described as the “finest walk in the world,” New Zealand’s Milford Track offers hikers a chance to explore some of the most dramatic landscapes in the Southern Hemisphere. Located in Fiordland National Park, the 33-mile hike takes about four days to complete and winds through lush rainforests, past roaring waterfalls, and along pristine rivers.
The track begins at Glade Wharf on Lake Te Anau and ends at the famous Milford Sound, one of the most photographed natural landmarks in New Zealand. Along the way, hikers encounter the 1,904-foot Sutherland Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in the world, and stunning views of Mackinnon Pass. The track is highly regulated, and only a limited number of hikers are allowed each season, ensuring that the pristine wilderness remains untouched.
