Locally called Refugio De Vida Silvestre La Flor, this Nicaraguan wildlife refuge is one of the best places in the world to see thousands of female sea turtles coming to lay their eggs.

Located on the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua, close to San Juan del Sur and Costa Rica’s border, La Flor Wildlife Refuge hosts more than 100,000 olive ridley sea turtles from July to December. These turtles come to nest alongside the occasional hawksbill, leatherback and green sea turtle. Best time: July to November
