5The Dolomites – Autumn in the Mountains

Before the snow arrives, the Dolomites offer a breathtaking display of color. Forests of larch and beech trees turn shades of orange and copper, contrasting against the pale peaks.

The trails around Val Gardena, Cortina d’Ampezzo, and Alpe di Siusi are quieter, making hiking and cycling particularly rewarding. Traditional mountain huts, or rifugi, serve hearty fare like speck, polenta, and apple strudel. Crisp days and cool nights make it the perfect season for scenic drives or simply soaking up the peace of the high alpine meadows.
