5Zamość, Poland
Zamość, in southeastern Poland, is one of the best-preserved examples of a Renaissance town in Europe.
Founded in the late 16th century by the wealthy nobleman Jan Zamoyski, it was designed by Italian architect Bernardo Morando to be a model city. Zamość features symmetrical streets, grand squares, and elegant townhouses, with an architectural style influenced by both Renaissance Italy and traditional Polish designs. Its well-preserved urban layout and beautiful buildings earned it UNESCO World Heritage status in 1992.
When people hear about Italy, they usually think of art-filled streets, local wine, or sumptuous Italian foods but, this country has something more to offer.
