Popular destinations such as Paris, Venice, Amsterdam, Santorini and the Amalfi Coast can become extraordinarily expensive during peak travel periods. Accommodation prices may increase dramatically around major festivals, sporting competitions and international events.
If you find yourself paying several times the usual rate for an ordinary hotel room, it may be worth reconsidering your dates or destination.
Remember to calculate the entire cost of your holiday, including transportation, meals, entrance tickets, local taxes and airport transfers. A seemingly affordable flight can become part of an unexpectedly expensive trip.
