1Malta – Small Islands, Big Tourist Crowds

Malta might look like the perfect Mediterranean escape, with historic towns, turquoise waters, spectacular coastlines and plenty of sunshine. However, its relatively small size makes managing large visitor numbers particularly challenging.

Valletta, St Julian’s, Sliema and the island of Comino attract substantial tourist traffic. The famous Blue Lagoon has experienced serious overcrowding, prompting authorities to introduce a visitor booking system and capacity limits.

During the busiest months, beaches, roads and popular attractions can feel considerably more crowded than photographs suggest.

Why think twice? If you are looking for secluded beaches and peaceful surroundings, investigate quieter parts of Malta or consider visiting outside the main summer season.
