As well as its blockbuster medieval cities, Malta has a whopping 9 sites on the UNESCO World Heritage list (and a further 7 on the tentative list) and is also home to some of the best prehistoric remains on the continent.

These are some of the earliest free-standing stone structures in the world. That’s over 7000 years of continuous history!
