3Tomb of Nebamun, British Museum, London, UK

One of the earliest surviving frescoes, the Tomb of Nebamun, takes us back to ancient Egypt’s New Kingdom period (c. 1350 BCE).

Discovered in Thebes in the 19th century, this fresco adorns the walls of Nebamun’s tomb and depicts scenes of daily life, agriculture, and leisure activities. The detailed and vivid depictions provide a remarkable insight into the art and culture of ancient Egypt.
